I haven’t a clue why. You look at the impossibly good Spider-Man game from last year and it’s hard to think of a single reason why we haven’t yet had a game that expands on the MCU. Maybe they don’t want to mess with the carefully constructed eleven-year story but if the Lego video games can do it, then why not a proper one.
Not to besmirch the name of Lego games. I love them.
But anyway, it turns out that what could possibly be the coolest game of all time is coming out later this year, in the form of Iron Man VR.
I’m not one for VR, really. I’ve never tried it and it just seems like hassle but this – as a concept and from what you can see – looks utterly stupendous.
From the parts of that video that are actual gameplay, it does look like Iron Man VR could be a lot better. Honestly it just looks a bit cheap at the moment but hopefully it’s still in production.
According to Marvel’s own blog post on the announcement:
“[Stark] confronts ghosts from his past — powerful forces who seek to ruin him and everything he stands for [alongside] iconic allies and Super Villains as they jet around the globe on a heroic mission to save not only Stark Industries, but the world itself.“
The game comes courtesy of a joint venture between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Camouflaj, which I’m ashamed to say means nothing to me. I was hoping for Insomniac Games – the people who made Marvel’s Spider-Man, but that’s life.
Finger’s crossed that it’s great.
