Peaky Blinders really is a fantastic show and more than anything, it really makes you want to wear a three piece suit and a flat cap. Not many things can make you do that and when you team that with the fact that it makes you want to live in Birmingham, it really is a tremendous feat.
But in the real world, unless you’re David Beckham, you never really get the pretend that you’re in Peaky Blinders and if you do, it’s always in some naff unlicensed event called something like “Peaked Gangsters 20s Night”.
But now you can actually pretend that you’re in Tom Shelby’s clan, in an official Peaky Blinders escape room event opening soon in the UK.
As of yet, an opening date is yet to be confirmed, but the venue will be run by escape room experts Escape Live, who are teaming up with the shows producers, Endemol Shine Group.
As you may have suspected, when it does open, the escape room will be in Birmingham, with Escape Live planning to roll out more across the country if (obviously when) the first one is successful.
Jas Sodhi, managing director at Escape Live, said:
“This is fantastic news for Peaky Blinders fans everywhere and we’re looking forward to re-imagining this international drama phenomenon into a number of escape experiences.
The first rooms will be coming to Birmingham soon and we can’t wait for fans of the series to see what we have planned.
We have acquired a new property which will be the home of the new experiences and we believe the character of that building fits the series perfectly.
Peaky Blinders has been enjoyed by millions of viewers across the world, but it is only right that these experiences are brought to Birmingham first. We are working closely with Endemol Shine Group to develop content for the rooms and will be revealing more details over the next couple of months.”
Jane Smith of Endemol Shine Group echoed this, saying:
“There is a huge appetite from audiences to take part in experiences based on the Peaky Blinders series and it is key for us to ensure that the official products and events live up to fans expectations.
We are delighted to have teamed up with the experienced team at Escape Live who will bring the Peaky Blinders series to life and deliver an outstanding experience which will really wow players.”
Very exciting stuff. We’ll keep you posted…
