Unfortunately, life got in the way of me attending Secret Cinema’s recent Stranger Things experience, so this is glorious music to this ’80s child’s ears.
Well, anything with the word ‘bar’ in it is, really.
Ever wanted to embark upon a totally rad adventure? One that Dustin, Lucas, Mike and Eleven would be proud of? While drunk?
Well, you’ll be happy to know that a Stranger Things inspired pop-up bar is touring some of the UK’s biggest cities later this year.
The pop-up bar is appropriately called The UpsideDown bar and, according to the event’s profile on Design My Night, hunters (that’s you) will get to experience the “best parts of the 1980s” inside the bar, with “the best movies, arcade games and DJs spinning the raddest 80s tracks” at their disposal.
Wait, no Golden Girls? I’m out.
At least there’s a room to show off your own moonwalk. No, really.
But, don’t expect all fun and games – this is Stranger Things we’re talking about here – ’cause this bar has a dark, dark secret and all hunters have a dangerous mission to complete.
As long as it’s not Barb related, I’m down. I can’t go through that again.
Here’s the official event synopsis:
“Come back in time with us to the 1980s and our immersive, Stranger Things -inspired popup experience!
“Hunters will get to experience all the best parts of the 1980s – the best movies, arcade games and DJs spinning the raddest 80s tracks all day/night. They’ll be games to play, puzzles to solve and room to show off your best moonwalk. Themed food for all hungers and prizes to be won!
“But the UpsideDown Bar has a dark secret. Once you’ve had your fill of 80s-themed fun, there is a dark and dangerous mission to complete. “Are you brave enough to venture into another dimension and face the unknown?”
The end of season 3 left us begging for answers, but it looks like season 4 is on the way to ease out nerves, featuring Hopper back in the fray – albeit he’s back as some sort of slave in what looks like Russia, but still.
The upcoming season will apparently be split into two parts, with season four, part two acting as a standalone run, as the Duffer Brothers intend to stretch out the remaining story before closing the book on the series entirely (although there will probably be a follow up in 15 years time with the same actors coming back to sort things out, IT Chapter 2-style).
There is also speculation that Stranger Things season 4 will have more of a Christmas theme, with it supposedly being released in late 2020.
I know Jonathan said you shouldn’t like things just because people tell you you’re supposed to, but obviously he didn’t mean a Stranger Things inspired pop-up bar. I mean it’s a Stranger Things inspired pop-up bar.
