Adam Sandler’s latest film, Uncut Gems has amassed 100% on Rotten Tomatoes after debuting to critical acclaim.

It used to be that if Adam Sandler was releasing a new film, it was pretty offensive, not very funny and usually an excuse for him and his friends to go on a several month-long holiday somewhere exotic where he set the plot.

Just look at films like Grown Ups and The Do Over. They really are just Adam Sandler having a holiday and every now and then having to say a few lines to sort of correlate with the plot of the thing he’s written. He also seems to fit in that he’s good at fighting into most of his films.

But that was in the past…

Sure, Murder Mystery was just another one of those films, but The Meyerowitz Stories from 2017 was supposedly very good and his standup special too received great reviews.

His latest film is one of the latter, as it’s pulling in some of the best reviews of the year, gaining 100% on Rotten Tomatoes which, if that particular website is to be believed, makes it better than Joker.

Uncut Gems is the name of the film directed by Benny and Josh Safdie, who were responsible for Robert Pattinson’s Good Times, and the reviews are pretty great…

Sadly there’s no trailer for Uncut Gems, so I suppose we’re just going to have to take these critics’ word for its quality…

What is Uncut Gems about?

The synopsis reads:

From acclaimed filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie comes an electrifying crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweller always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.

When is Uncut Gems out?

Uncut Gems is due to be released on the 13th of December this year, though some sources claim it will come out on Christmas day.

Will Uncut Gems be on Netflix?

It will be. Netflix acquired international distribution rights to the film back in 2018, so you’ll be able to watch it with your subscription.
