Amazon delivery driver caught spitting on package in Los Angeles by customer’s home security camera
Look, I’ll be really honest; I hesitated reporting on this altogether, because the last thing we all need is to lose faith in services Amazon right now. Especially Amazon, in fact. They’re virtually the only means of getting non-essentials to our front doors right now. Although the new news has led to me emptying my most recent online basket of non-essentials, this incident is just too despicable to keep from you.
Footage of an apparent Amazon delivery guy spitting on a package and then appearing to use his hand to smear his spit has been circulating online, to the utter discuss of social media users everywhere.
The horrifying incident is believed to have taken place on Thursday evening (26th March) at a duplex residence in L.A.’s Hancock Park neighbourhood. Various publications obtained the home security footage shortly after the incident took place.
Now not only is this obviously f*cking grim, it’s incredibly dangerous in our world’s current climate. A huge proportion of the planet is making every effort to live in self-isolation and practise social distancing right now, as to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. F*cking spitting on a personal package that is going to be brought into someone’s home violates everything the world is trying to do right now.
According to reports, Amazon was contacted by a neighbour of the person whose package was spat on, and a customer service viewed the security footage with them. The rep allegedly confirmed that the delivery man was, in fact, from a third party service.
TMZ.com reached out to Amazon for comment. They said:
“This is clearly not representative of drivers who deliver for Amazon and the care they take for customers around the world every day.
“We are aggressively investigating to understand what may have occurred in this situation.
If it truly was a malicious act by the driver, we will be sure he is held accountable, up through and including law enforcement action.”
If what is apparent in the video is actually true, the man is scum and I hope Amazon – or whoever employs him directly – empties their basket of him.
Let’s hope we can all learn to unsee this.
