Arnie’s and Greta’s friendship is slowly turning into the plot of a Netflix family film, if you ask me.
Just a couple of weeks after telling the world he was totally ‘Team Greta’ on a press tour, former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger posted pictures of himself and young activist Greta Thunberg enjoying a leisurely bike ride around Santa Monica.
It’s like an answer to one of those conversation starters, isn’t it? If you could invite any two people – dead or alive – to a dinner party who would you invite? Dinner party, bike ride, nine hours trapped in a lift – I’d one hundred percent choose Greta and Arnie. Such legends.
Naturally, the internet has gone somewhat bonkers because the pair look like they’re having the best time ever.
The two climate change activists popped on their bikes and rode around Santa Monica, California before 72-year-old Arnie introduced his new bestie to his daughter, Christina.
Schwarzenegger posted photo highlights of what literally looks like the best day ever to his Twitter page, writing:
“It was fantastic to see my friend and one of my heroes @GretaThunberg last week and go on a bike ride around Santa Monica together and I was so pumped to introduce her to my daughter Christina. Keep inspiring, Greta!”
The day the Terminator publicly calls you one of his heroes is a pretty good day – but you know that super-cool Greta didn’t bat an eyelid at it. She’s cooler than I’ll ever be.
The 16-year-old climate change activist has been travelling across America this week.
She’s spent most of her time stateside meeting young protestors and catching up with A-list super-fans like Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Degeneres.
American actor Leonardo DiCaprio posted a photo of him and Greta to his Instagram with the following caption:
“There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time. History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same liveable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted. I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds. It was an honor to spend time with Greta. She and I have made a commitment to support one another, in hopes of securing a brighter future for our planet. #FridaysforFuture #ClimateStrike @fridaysforfuture.”
And of course, Greta went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show ’cause only big time people get on Ellen and Greta is totally big time now. Remember when she turned down an award? Only big time people do that.
Back to the bike ride, though – I need more memes of this. Send memes.
