Sorry Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, your reign is over… Baby Shark is here to stay.
The earworm of a tune that everyone loves to hate (although some are secret fans), Baby Shark has officially overtaken ‘Despacito’ to claim the title of the most viewed video on YouTube ever.
The catchy tune was performed by Pinkfong, a South Korean educational brand and kids everywhere couldn’t get enough of it.
The accompanying video has now racked up a terrifying total of 7.04 billion views.
The CEO of SmartStudy, Pinkfong’s parent company, Min Seok Kim said: “Without the love and support of fans around the world, Baby Shark’s new record would have been impossible. We’re very honored by this record and will continue to focus on delivering high-quality entertainment beyond the digital platforms.”
Baby Shark charted at number six in the UK last year, despite feeling like a lifetime ago, as well as reaching number 32 in the US.
In third place is Ed Sheeran with ‘Shape Of You’ after being played 5.05 billion times.
Joining them in the top ten are several other songs that sparked a craze, including ‘Gangnam Style’.
At number four is Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s ‘See You Again‘ with 4.79 billion views, Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ is 7th with 3.99 billion, and Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ comes in eighth place with 3.84 billion views).
You’re singing it now, aren’t you.
