Now 18, Billie Eilish has blasted the internet as a “stupid-a** mess” after discovering Drake, 33, had received slack for texting her last year.
Eilish was just 17 at the time when a text-relationship was struck up, but claims people are “so sensitive” when it comes down to their platonic text relationship.
This also comes after Drake reportedly shares text time with Millie Bobby Brown, 15, star of Netflix hit, Stranger Things.
In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Billie said she can’t understand the deal with “a grown man [being] a fan of an artist?”.
“There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about”, the Bad Guy singer explains.
Fans of the star were initially shocked to discover Eilish was receiving texts from Drake last year as she was only 17 years old.
“The internet is such a stupid-a** mess right now”, blasts Eilish.
“Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Donald Trump? What the f*** is that s***?”, she adds.
“Drake is like the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to”, she huffs.
“I mean I’ve only like texted him, but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice. You know what I mean? He’s at a level of his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is. You know?”.
Similarly, Millie Bobby Brown was only 14-years old when Drake initiated a text-talk with her but Millie dissipates any claims of it being ‘creepy’ saying “he’s great” in an interview with Access Hollywood.
“I love him”, she gushes.
“I met him in Australia, and he’s honestly so fantastic. We just texted each other the other day and he was like, ‘I miss you so much’, and I was like, ‘I miss you more’”.
Taking to her social media, Millie defended her relationship with the rapper.
“I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance”, she wrote.
There’s just nothing strange about it, you see.
“I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. You don’t get to choose that for me”, she added.
Despite the persistence of both Eilish and Brown, Drake has been dubbed “creepy” and “inappropriate” for sparking up friendships with the pair.
Late last year when reports first emerged, one fan asked: “Why’s a 33-year old man texting girls under the age of 17?”.
Particularly when some of the exchanges to Millie Bobby Brown regularly said he missed her.
“Does anyone else think it’s strange that Drake just had Billie Eilish and Millie Bobby Brown’s numbers?”, said another tweeter.
But as Billie speaks out in the rapper’s defence, another commenter said: “I don’t blame Billie Eilish one bit for thinking it’s cool that Drake wants to be her friend. I loved it when I was 17 and adult men wanted to know me”.
Adding: “It’s only in hindsight that I found it weird, and it’s really on adults to interrogate what ‘being nice’ actually means here”.
It’s a bit strange, but it’s also highly plausible he’s just doing it to show support to these talented up and comers.
Not everything is sinister these days, although granted, it does often seem that way.
Sad as it is to say…
