Current scenes in America are pretty ugly, as widespread demonstrations and protests sweep across the country following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd.

Floyd, an African-American man, was killed by a police officer who continued to kneel on his neck despite Floyd pleading for his life and exclaiming on numerous occasions that he couldn’t breathe.

A number of celebs, including John Boyega, Taylor Swift, Steve Carell and Seth Rogen have spoken out to raise awareness for the injustice, and now singer Billie Eilish has condemned white people who insist “all lives matter”, instead urging them to recognise their own privilege.

“I’ve been trying to take this week to figure out a way to address this delicately. I have an enormous platform and I try really hard to be respectful and take time to think through what I say and how I say it…But holy f—— s— I’m gonna just start talking,” Eilish wrote on Instagram.

“IF I HEAR ONE MORE WHITE PERSON SAY ‘aLL liVeS maTtEr’ ONE MORE F—— TIME IM GONNA LOSE MY F—— MIND. WILL YOU SHUT THE F–K UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP???? NO ONE ELSE IS SAYING YOUR LIFE DOESNT MATTER. NO ONE IS SAYING YOUR LIFE IS NOT HARD.”

Eilish then stated that supporters of “All Lives Matter” are making things about themselves, but told them: “YOU ARE NOT IN NEED. YOU ARE NOT IN DANGER.”

Eilish also addressed white privilege, pointing out that if you are white, you are ‘privileged whether you like it or not’, adding: ‘society gives you privilege just for being white’.

“If your friend gets a cut on their arm are you gonna wait to give all your friends a bandaid first because all arms matter? NO youre gonna help your friend because THEY are in PAIN because THEY are in need because THEY ARE BLEEDING. If someones house was on fire & someone is stuck in the house, are you gonna make the fire department go to every other house on the block first because all houses matter??? NO! BECAUSE THEY DON’T F—— NEED IT.”

Eilish wrote: “YOU ARE PRIVILEGED WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOR. SOCIETY GIVES YOU PRIVILEGE JUST FOR BEING WHITE. YOU CAN BE POOR, YOU CAN BE STRUGGLING.. AND STILL YOUR SKIN COLOR IS GIVING YOU MORE PRIVILEGE THAN YOU EVEN REALIZE.”

“IF ALL LIVES MATTER WHY ARE BLACK PEOPLE KILLED FOR JUST BEING BLACK,” she asked. “WHY ARE IMMIGRANTS PERSECUTED? WHY ARE WHITE PEOPLE GIVEN OPPORTUNITIES THAT PEOPLE OF OTHER RACES AREN’T…WHITE F—— PRIVILEGE.”

Eilish’s message has been liked more than four million times on Instagram, with stars including Halle Berry, Ty Dolla Sign, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ava DuVernay and Joan Smalls praising it in the comments section.

It comes after protestors continued to demonstrate just outside the White House gates, with many outlets reporting that President Trump had retreated to an underground bunker.

Photos on social media also showed the White House with nearly all its exterior lights out as peaceful gatherings clashed with law enforcement.

Extremely concerning news coming out of the US at the moment.

2020 really is a shit-show.
