This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride.“
About time someone stood up for the little guy…
Well, with that in mind, the mercurial good guy who is Chris Evans – a Boston-native and all around perfect man – took to Twitter to blast the alleged homophobes in a way no one saw coming.
“Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!! Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The ‘desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children’ parade? Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??“
He then expanded on that, saying:
Citing James Fell’s candid admission as to why straight pride is a farce, Evans said:
“Wow, the number gay/straight pride parade false equivalencies are disappointing. For those who don’t understand the difference, see below. Instead of going immediately to anger(which is actually just fear of what you don’t understand)take a moment to search for empathy and growth“
He’s 100% right. “Straight Pride” is absolutely unnecessary and can only lead to more pain and despair. I’m straight and I’ve happy that way, but I’m hardly going to celebrate that.
I quite like the colour yellow and it doesn’t look half bad on me; I’m not waving a banner in London, showing my pride for liking yellow. Mind you, even if I did, it would just end up looking like a Lib Dem march with a small turnout.
As you might have suspected, the replies to Evans’s messages were pretty damn favourable…

Meanwhile, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, a Democrat, focused on LGBTQ pride in a statement when asked about the “Straight Pride” parade, saying:
“Every year, Boston hosts our annual Pride Week, where our city comes together to celebrate the diversity, strength and acceptance of our LGBTQ community. This is a special week that represents Boston’s values of love and inclusion, which are unwavering. I encourage everyone to join us in celebration this Saturday for the Pride Parade and in the fight for progress and equality for all.“
To be honest, I liked Smash Mouth’s thoughts…
