Hidden away somewhere in our shoe cupboards, there’s probably at least one pair of old Converse, whether its the iconic high-top version or the regular platform trainer.

The sneakers started gaining popularity in sport from as early as 1917, becoming known as THE basketball shoe, and with their later appearances in films (GREASE!) and music videos, they soon became the fashion staple they are today.

And now, you can even get your hands on a customised pair of Converse created specially for your wedding day, as the brand has unveiled a new bridal range.

What are the Converse wedding shoes?

While it may sound slightly unconventional to be sporting a pair of Converse all stars under your wedding dress, it will definitely solve those problems faced most by the bride on her big day: sore feet.

Among the new range designed specifically for weddings is an all-over mini sequin high top shoe, for the bride who wants a little glam on her big day.

There’s also a more traditional-looking white low top shoe, for those aiming for a more classic bridal look.

As for the grooms, there’s something for you too.

Husbands-to-be might wish to tie the knot in style with the custom Chuck Taylor All Star Floral Embroidery Low Tops, a sleek black design with a red rose embroidered at the back:

Describing the range the retailer says: “Constructed with the latest and most innovative shoe technologies, Converse are built for all-day wear, so you can dance late into your wedding night in complete comfort.

“Say ‘I do’ in style and pick the silhouette that is best suited for your big day with low and high top styles or get some added height with our women’s platform silhouette.

“From white wedding sneakers to sneakers that shine and shimmer, choose from a great selection to dress everyone from the bride and groom to bridesmaids and groomsmen.”

Sadly, the whole range is currently only available in the US but some of the styles are available in the UK and hopefully more will be available soon.

However, those lucky enough to be living in the States, there’s further good news, as you can add your own unique touch by customising a pair with your name, the date of the big day or anything else you want.

So those saying ‘I do’ this year will be able to dance the night away at their wedding celebrations with no fear of blisters from tight fitting wedding shoes.

Why not just go full on Converse-themed with the wedding cake too?
