Deadpool 3 is apparently definitely happening according to one of the film creators.

After Disney bought Fox or merged with then or Bob Iger and Rupert Murdoch became one entity – I really don’t understand what happened – a lot of people wondered what would happen to certain properties that didn’t really align with Disney’s brand.

Deadpool was the main one, really, since people didn’t really care what happened to other Fox films and since it’s unlikely that Disney would want two separate Marvel cinematic universes, the future of Ryan Reynolds’ character was all up in the air.

The MCU has shown that it can be dark in the past, of course; a main character literally jumped off a cliff to commit suicide inĀ Endgame, but Deadpool is a whole different kettle of fish.

Deadpool 2 – which I actually think was pretty bad, not that you asked – had various people brutally killed and gorily ripped apart, gratuitous swearing and a big ol’ bag of cocaine and whichever way you look at it, that isn’t very Disney.

The thinking was that if Deadpool was to be introduced into the MCU, he’d be rebooted and toned town to huge degrees to make him fit tonally, but that would have been a huge shame because Ryan Reynolds was basically born for that role and put his heart and soul into making it happen.

Maybe we don’t have to worry about losing that particular iteration of the character though, as Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has said that a third film is on the way and it’s coming soon!

While doing a Twitter Q&A, Liefelf was asked whether he has any news on the thirdĀ Deadpool instalment, to which he essentially said “yeah it’s happening”…

I mean that’s exciting, right?

I’d love to see him fold into the MCU somehow, and he’d contrast excellently with Spider-Man.

Yes I want this to happen, please.
