While the original Top Boy aired on Channel 4 over here in the UK, Drake loved it so much that he bought the rights after it was cancelled, with the resulting show being a terrific success on Netflix.
It went down so well in fact that a second season has been ordered by Netflix, which Drake himself confirmed when we was quizzed on Instagram.
Instagram account GRM Daily asked:
“Will we see a new series in 2020?“
With Drake replying:
Back in November, Asher D had told Metro that as second season was being penned, saying:
“We haven’t had the actual green light yet but it’s looking promising.
“In preparation for that we’ve already been working out storylines and writing so it’s looking good. Obviously I won’t give anything away but it’s looking dope and we’re all looking forward to going again with the show.”
Showrunner Ronan Bennett also told Metro:
“We want to do a new season and we’re talking to Netflix about it. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve all achieved with the new season.“
If you’re wondering what my earlier comment was about, it was previously spoken about by Millie Bobby Brown herself that Drake regularly texts her and later last year, when she was still 17, Billie Eilish added that she texts Drake too, adding that he’s a really nice guy.
She told Vanity Fair:
“I’ve only like texted him, but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice, you know what I mean? He’s at a level in his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is, you know?“
Don’t get me wrong; I’m sure he is just being nice, but still… bit weird?
where were we?
Oh yeah, we’ll let you know whether there’s any more news on Top Boy.
