The Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special is just over the horizon, with BBC iPlayer leaking a little teaser of the upcoming one-off, leaving lot of people lots of excited.

That’s right, the sitcom with one of the best theme songs after The Office and Peep Show (after season one) is back, and very soon we’ll be hearing Stephen Fretwell’s 2002 easy listening Run… I imagine.

The teaser doesn’t share a lot with us, just a glimpse into the Christmas preparations with Bryn making the dinner and Stacey and Ness having the be there for it.

How can you not be excited for this? It’s just feel-good laughs.

When is the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special 2019 set to air?

The Christmas Special is set to air on BBC One on Christmas Day at 9:30 pm. We may be stuffed and drunk by then, but you can still guarantee we’ll be tuning in.

Who wrote the it, eh?

Ruth Jones and James Corden have penned the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special, just as they wrote the script for every other episode back in the 00s. According to Corden himself, he and Jones wrote the majority of the script over Facetime.

We wrote the new script over Facetime. I would get up at 4 am and work with Ruth till it was time to take Max [Corden’s son] to school… We didn’t tell anyone we were doing it, certainly not the BBC. We thought, ‘We’ll do it for us and we’ll know if it’s right.’ We’ve seen too many people ruin what they’ve done – for no reason. James Corden in conversation with British GQ

Who’s in the 2019 Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special?

Most of the original cast, including James Cordon, are returning for the 2019 Christmas special.

The only name we’re disappointed to hear isn’t returning is Sheridan Smith: the actress who played Smithy’s sister Ruth ‘Rudi’ Smith .

Right. I’m going to go and listen to this on repeat until Christmas day…
