Is it me or did the Harry Potter books have an alluring, almost intoxicating smell to them as a youngster? As a 10 year-old reading the books it was like sniffing petrol – albeit while improving my literacy skills. Very important difference.
It’s be a little while since The Deathly Hallows first hit shelves, and since then we’ve had several tie-in tomes, manuals and the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but now there’s four new eBooks on the way to cast your peepers on.
The announced titles include Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures, Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy, and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology.
The stories, which have been described as ‘bitesize’, will be based on the aforementioned different Hogwarts lessons.
These eBook shorts are adapted from the audiobook – Harry Potter – The History of Magic – and “and are a chance to absorb the colourful characters and curious incidents of the real history of magic in a more compact form – perfect for the train or whatever Muggle transport you prefer”.
As per Pottermore, the stories will:
‘Take you back in time once again to learn about the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories.’
The first pair, themed on Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Potions and Herbology will be published on June 27th 2019, with the others following soon after.
This comes after Vans – the shoe people – announced their upcoming collaboration with the Wizarding World.
The Vans x HarryPotter collaboration includes four exclusive colorways including a Sk8-Hi in Gryffindor, an Era in Slytherin, Authentic in Ravenclaw and a Classic Slip-On in Hufflepuff. There’s also a ComfyCush Era themed for the film’s fictitious newspaper features newsprint graphics in Daily Prophet.
Alongside the footwear collection is a selection of men’s and women’s apparel which has been “similarly inspired by the four houses of Hogwarts, while also referencing the series’ novel titles and a back-to-school vibe as well. Men’s apparel highlights include an Old Skool Backpack in Gryffindor colorway, Torrey Black in Deathly Hallows and a Harry Potter 4 Houses Pullover in white.”

Charismatic, witty, charming, engaging - four things Joshua Rogers will never be. Thankfully, he’s a semi-competent writer, who, after graduating university with two mostly pointless degrees, joined The Hook two years ago. He subsequently honed his writing skills over the course of several sex-related articles, bringing a very public shame to his family's good name.
