Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special, eh? What more could you want? The time you can watch it? Oh right, yeah you can know that, I suppose.

Ever since we were told there was going to be a Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special, we’ve all been dangerously excited, eagerly awaiting any news that could shed any light on it.

Rather happily, these last weeks have been pretty fruitful after months of nothingness – bar a few set photos – and now we all know what to expect from the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special, and when we can actually watch it.

First and foremost, watch the trailer. It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face, even if you’re not the biggest Gavin and Stacey fan. Just some cheerful Christmas fun.

Looks fun fun fun. But…

When is the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special out?

We’ve all known for a while now that the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special will air on, surprise, surprise, Christmas Day, but until now we never knew if we’d have to forego the dinner to catch it.

The good news is that missing Christmas dinner won’t be necessary, as you can catch Gavin and Stacey at 8:30pm on BBC One.

The news was shared by cowriter and star James Cordon on Twitter…

What is the Christmas Special about?

The trailer doesn’t give much away at all, expect that there’s a lot of jovial dancing, darting between Essex and Barry and general Christmas festivities.

Looks like Pete and Dawn are still having marriage woes. Always good for a few laughs.

Or should I say Mark Overmars and Dawn? Great scene.

The Christmas Special was announced by Ruth Jones and James Cordon, who wrote in a press release:

Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like.

And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one-hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.

We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen.”

How are they going to explain Bryn’s hair growing back?

Now we wait.
