GOT’s Emilia Clarke is auctioning off dinner dates to raise money for COVID-19 efforts
So, if you’ve ever wanted to go out with Daenerys Targaryen, lads and ladies…
We’ve all got to do what we can in these trying times.
Whether it’s dropping a pint of milk off at an elderly neighbour’s doorstep once a day, or auctioning yourself off as a dinner date for hundreds of thousands of pounds because you’re just that fit and famous… I suppose it depends on the skills and resources you can offer.
If you are Game of Thrones stunner Emilia Clarke, you fall into the latter of those categories.
Emilia is offering 12 luckily fans the chance to join her for a virtual ‘store cupboard dinner’. But, as they say, there’s no such thing as a free lunch – or dinner, in this case. Because this one is far from free.
Emilia is hoping to raise £250,000 to help support COVID-19 efforts (specifically, to help recovering brain injury and stroke patients, so they can stay safe and supported at home while hospitals urgently need hospital beds for Covid-19 patients).
So, to be in with a chance of getting a seat at this once-in-a-lifetime dinner date, you’ll need to cough up some cash for the cause. You’ll then need to keep your fingers crossed that you get randomly selected by Clarke for the “dinner date”.
“How would you feel about having dinner with me? Virtually.”
The 33-year Solo: A Star Wars Story actress recently posted a video on Instagram promoting the unique auction to her 27.4 million followers.
In the clip, Emilia says:
“How would you feel about having dinner with me? Virtually.
“12 lucky people will join me, virtually, and we’re going to put together a store cupboard dinner.”
“Together we’ll cook it and we’ll eat it together and we’ll discuss lots of things”
The star added:
“Together we’ll cook it and we’ll eat it together and we’ll discuss lots of things, isolation, fear and also funny videos and the fact that I can’t really cook.
“So it’s going to be fun, it’ll be interesting.”
From my isolation booth I write to you with a plea for help!”
She added the following caption to the post:
“🙌 Same you covid relief fund!!! 🙌
“Dearest ones, from my isolation booth I write to you with a plea for help!
“Due to the current frightening and ever changing coronavirus emergency please would you help me raise £250,000, by donating through the link in my Bio, to provide stroke and brain injury patients with essential support!! This fund will also help in freeing up the hospital beds needed to deal with the pandemic, to care for those who also need a space to heal.
“100% of your generosity will fund virtual rehab clinic support in the coming weeks… a very big task and a very big ask but you are all very big hearted souls so I know you’ll want to help me help them! ❤️🏆❤️ @sameyouorg #togethertogethertogether.”
I wonder what the Mother of Dragons has on the menu?
