Who doesn’t love a freebie? And who doesn’t love food? Well, for those of you whose birthday landed during lockdown there’s delicious news from Greggs.

To be eligible to take advantage of the birthday extension scheme your birthday needs to have landed during lockdown between March and August of this year.

Here’s all you need to know:

To claim your free sweet treat at Greggs all you have to do is sign up to Greggs Rewards via it’s free app and then pop into your local outlet to redeem your birthday treat voucher – which has a value of £1 – anytime up until the end of 2020.

Your free belated birthday treat from Greggs could include anything with a value of up to £1 – this could be cookies, doughnuts or yum yums. You don’t even need to buy anything else to redeem the offer just head in, grab your treat, show them your voucher and enjoy.

This isn’t exactly a new thing as many existing Greggs Rewards users will know. In fact, once you sign up free bakes come your way every year which is at least some consolation for turning one year older.

November 5th also sees the return of Greggs festive bake – which when you think about isn’t really too long away so, you could even hold tight on your free sweet treat until then and devour both in one sitting.

Confirming the news, Greggs tweeted:

If anything can save 2020, it’s the Festive Bake #79Days.” The countdown is on”.

And what’s more, Greggs isn’t the only retailer to extend their birthday schemes due to lockdown.

If it’s tasty treats that float your boat, you can also grab yourself a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme for one year from the date of your birthday and even a free bottle of Prosecco with two meals at Pizza Express. So, you’d be silly not to make a day of it!

Krispy Kreme’s free doughnut offer works in the same way as that of Greggs, simply download Krispy Kreme Rewards and you’ll get a complimentary doughnut of your choice – as opposed to the original glazed version that would usually be on offer at any other time, which is perhaps one of the perks of having a lockdown birthday.
