Harry Styles is breaking the internet again.

Remember when he wore that stunning dress for a magazine and upset a load of people?

He’s done it again – but this time it’s with a Disney twist.

The singer has dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, complete with flowing red locks.

There are plenty of rumours that Styles turned down the role of Eric in the live-action remake of the film.

Fans now say it’s because he actually wanted to play Ariel.

Photos

The photos aren’t new – they’re actually from Saturday Night Live back in 2019, but due to social media, fans are just seeing them properly now.

Harry is pictured looking resplendent in a long, red wig and a mermaid’s tail.

Disney probably wouldn’t be happy about the glass of champagne and a cigarette that he’s holding.

It even looks like he’s got Unisex nail polish on!

Fans

Such was the excitement about the pics, the word ‘Ariel’ is now trending on social media.

Fans are beside themselves with excitement.

One tweeted: ‘Harry was like: “Prince Eric? Nah sweetie, I’m whole damn Ariel!”’

Another said: ‘Find yourself a man who can do both’ with pics of him in both Ariel and Eric get up.

‘Wtf this is real????????? honestly thought it’s edited!!! Harry Styles as Ariel?? Gimme moreeeeee.’

One put even more clearly:  ‘HARRY STYLES WHO? I ONLY KNOW ARIEL STYLES’.

Previously, Styles told Capital Radio in 2019 about turning down the role of Eric.

He said, ‘I had a meeting with Rob Marshall, the director, who is the most wonderful man. He’s great, and it was just honestly a few things and it just wasn’t – It’s going to be an amazing film.’

It’s thought his busy schedule was the reason he had to cancel.

Live-Action

The role of Ariel is being played by Halle Bailey, while Prince Eric will be played by Jonah Hauer-King.

The arch-villain Ursula will be played by Ursula, Hamilton’s Daveed Digs as Sebastian, plus Javier Bardem as King Triton.

Awkwafina will play Scuttle, while Jacob Tremblay is Flounder.

In addition, Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on the soundtrack, so you know it’s going to be good.

Filming is said to be underway, and fans are hoping for a release date of November 2021.

Controversy

There was previously upset about the casting of Halle as Ariel, as she is a Black actor.

The hashtag #NotMyAriel began to trend on Twitter at the time, back in 2019.

Meanwhile, a similar reaction happened when Zendaya was cast to play  MJ in Spider-Man.  MJ was also a white, red-haired character in the comics. However, she proved critics wrong and received rave reviews for the role.

Do you think Harry looks good as Ariel?
