Ahh, the Full English Breakfast, that classic institution of bacon, sausage, egg, beans, and more that regularly divides opinion as to what makes the perfect combination. Should the beans be separate? Is black pudding disgusting?

It seems we’ve all joined forces in being revolted by Heston Blumenthal’s new combination for Waitrose. In theory, a breakfast sandwich shouldn’t be difficult to mess up when the core ingredients are so good, but of course, Heston had to give everything a twist.

The new sandwich features “bar marked baked bean flavoured bread” which is basically a fancy way of saying tomato flavoured toast. Sandwiched between this abomination is smokey crumbed sausage, smoked bacon, free-range sliced egg, cold-pressed mayonnaise, tomatoes and cannellini beans in sauce – all finished off with a coffee flavoured mushroom ketchup.

Foodies are not impressed.

The baked bean bread and coffee flavoured mushroom ketchup are raising the most eyebrows and churning stomachs.

Others have had fun dressing up the description of other classic snacks.

There’s still some people who want to give it a try though.

Will you be giving it a go or sticking to a classic bacon roll?
