It’s been a long time coming but it’ll have been worth the wait for the Disney+ sequel of Hocus Pocus, after the stars of the original have confirmed they’re returning.
Bette Midler, who played Winnie Sanderson, confirmed the news. She and her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will be returning Sarah and Mary Sanderson and they’ll repeat the roles of the spooky sisters for a second time.
In an interview with Fox 5 New York, Bette said: “They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes. I’m game, I’m totally game.”
The trio dressed up again recently as part of the virtual event In Search of the Sanderson Sisters, due to take place on the 30th.
“It was so bizarre to have been these characters 27 years ago and to put all that gear on … it was so bizarre because we fell into exactly the same relationships we had and the same style of behaving on screen that we had 27 years ago. As if we had been off for a weekend!” laughs Bette.
The Hocus Pocus sequel will be titled Hocus Pocus 2. Adam Shankman is in the director’s chair, and he’s also responsible for Hairspray and Enchanted.
With the amount of chaos the sisters caused in the first film, we can’t wait to see what they get up to in the sequel.
