It might sound like the plot for a new slasher flick, but according to recent reports, the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! set is “on lockdown” as a real-life horror movie unfolds just outside of the camp.
I’m a Celeb bosses have reportedly increased security around the camp making the site “impenetrable”, following reports that the dead body of a 50-year-old man had been found at Jake Evans Boat Harbour Park in Tweed Heads at around 11am on Friday. The body, was found with “physical wounds”, wrapped in a sleeping bag.
Detective Chief Inspector Brendon Cullen said:
“I won’t go into any description about those wounds, but he has suffered injuries.”
Jake Evans Boat Harbour Park is about an hour away from the I’m a Celeb camp, hence why the world’s eyes have turned to the jungle this weekend.
An extensive manhunt is now underway for the man’s killer. New South Wales police are treating the man’s death as suspicious, and want to speak to anyone who might know anything.
Police are urging for anyone with relevant information about the incident to call Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A source close to The Sun said:
“The celebs are being watched 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a team of staff and our security measures are incredibly tight.
“So there is zero chance of anyone sneaking into camp. But of course it is very unsettling to know that there is someone out there, running from the police, who has committed such a horrible crime.”
All 14 celebrities are completely cut off from the outside world – as per the nature of the show – and thus, have no idea what is going happening in the nearby vicinity.
Detective Chief Inspector Brendon Cullen told ABC : “The movements and the history of the victim is something that we are in the early stages of establishing.
“We are very keen to speak to any person that was in Jack Evans Boat Harbour yesterday evening and this morning who might have seen something or know anything about this.
“We do want to establish where this man is from and how he came to be in the state he is in now.”
