Supposedly, ‘I’m a Celeb’ is meant to take those in the public eye away from their home comforts and into a jungle thousands of miles away where only the toughest will survive.
Or something like that.
That means no mobile phones, no TV, no internet, no alcohol and no cigarettes… or so we thought.
Eagle-eyed viewers watching last night’s show couldn’t help but notice what they thought would be deemed a ‘luxury item’ – a cigarette.
With that in mind, many viewers were shocked to spot Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer smoking as the camera passed him.
Plenty of people were confused as they considered tobacco and cigarette at odds with the back-to-basics nature of the camp, and took to Twitter to share their bafflement:
Yep, definitely smoking.
Furthermore, later on in the episode, new Emperor Noel Edmonds put Eastenders actress Rita Simons in charge of cigarettes “because she always has a fag in her mouth”.
It’s not the first time this has happened either; only last year people spotted Jennie McApline smoking in the jungle and were perplexed as to why she was allowed to do so.
In 2017 an insider told the Mirror Online:
“They are allowed some cigarettes… Susannah [Constantine] started on e-cig then was on normal ones and there’s a pretty good supply.”
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out Of Here! reps told the ECHO:
“If any celebrities smoke, they are allowed to smoke in the Jungle. They smoke near the camp fire and stubs have to go in the fire afterwards.”
There you have it.
And in other ‘I’m a Celeb‘ news, presenter Declan Donnelly was recently accused of “casual homophobia” by some viewers. You can read about it here.
