Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire, is looking for a girlfriend and while we all want love and in itself this wouldn’t usually be a story worth telling, he wants to take his suitor to space.

I thought I did a good job as a new boyfriend in the early stages of my relationship with my girlfriend. We went to Spain, I got her tickets to a show she really wanted to see and when she said she liked long hair, I didn’t get a haircut (I currently hate my hair). But this guy’s taking his new girlfriend to space???

44-year-old Maezawa is a billionaire who sold his online fashion retailer Zozo Inc to SoftBank Group Corp and he will be travelling on Elon Musk’s SpaceX around the moon in 2023.

Maezawa wants a girlfriend over the age of 20 (a very modest man) who would be willing to come to space with him, as well as participate in the, presumably, somewhat gruelling preparation for it.

All of this would be filmed for a show, Full Moon Lovers, on his own streaming service AbemaTV, and potential suitors need to be okay with that.

Currently Maezawa is taking applications from single females up until the 17th January, and he will be choosing his match in March.

Speaking of his desires, Maezawa said he had:

feelings of loneliness and emptiness’ slowly beginning to ‘surge upon [him].

I want to find a life partner.

With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space.”

The businessman will be Elon Musk’s first passenger on SpaceX in 2023 and he says that the person coming with him also has to be a big fan of peace, hence the “world peace” statement.

Maezawa has earned the label as a somewhat eccentric man, worth $1.5 billion, he recently announced he would be giving $9million to his Twitter followers to see if happiness really can be bought.

Along with that, he also spent £85million on a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting in 2017, the highest price ever paid in auction for an American piece of art.

As mentioned earlier, applications close on the 17th of January, so if all of that sounds like a bit of you, then go ahead.
