However, show co-creator Marta Kauffman recently tarnished our dreams by basically saying it isn’t happening any time soon.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she said:
“One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It’s not that time anymore.
“All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone.
“Two, I don’t know what good it does us. The show is going just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. ‘The One Where Everyone’s Disappointed’.”
It’s hard to ignore her pretty solid point, but we recently got handed a lifeline by one of the main stars herself, Jennifer Anniston.
Asked for what seems to be the millionth time on The Ellen Show, Aniston was queried as to where a reunion could be on the horizon, given that the show’s 25th anniversary is fast approaching.
“Okay, why not?
You know what, because listen, I told you this. I would do it. The girls would do it. And the boys would do it, I’m sure.
Listen. Anything could happen.“
Meanwhile, Lisa Kudrow recently revealed her desire to mark the show’s 25th anniversary in some what, telling Extra TV that she had been speaking Courteney Cox about it:
“We should all get together.
Courteney and Jennifer are good planners. I’m that annoying person that’s like, ‘Hey, do either one of you want to put that together?’ My role is like, here’s an idea and have someone do it.“
Well that’s sort of exciting!
We can only hope…
