John Krasinski made a name for himself in The Office US and now he’s a big Hollywood heart-throb.

His role as Jim Halpert in the US version of Ricky Gervais’ mockumentary is nothing short of superb, perfecting that awkward, eye roll to the camera when resident buffoon Michael Scott puts his proverbial foot in it or says something completely out of turn.

Since the conclusion of the comedy show, he’s turned his attention to the big screen, starring alongside real-life wifey Emily Blunt in the sci-fi horror A Quiet Place.

We’ve known for a while that they’d be reprising their roles in a sequel, but now John has confirmed that filming has wrapped.

The actor posted on social media on Wednesday (September 25th) to share a set photo of him walking hand-in-hand with his wife and co-star Emily Blunt, who’s returning as her character Evelyn Abbott.

Filming for the sequel has been underway since July, which includes new recruits Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator).

John revealed the news on Twitter by posting a picture of the clapboard for scene one, take one of the movie.

Furthermore, locals around New York State shared exciting pics from production when it was taking place there.

“There was a big crowd of people trying to see something, but they had security,” Newfane Town Supervisor Timothy R. Horanburg told The Buffalo News .

Buffalo Library also shared a snap of Krasinski and Blunt, confirming the news.

“You never know who you’ll run into at the library! @johnkrasinski & Emily Blunt, in town to film #AQuietPlace2, with @newsteadlibrary Director Kristine Sutton!”, they wrote.

A Quiet Place grossed $188 million at the domestic box office and $340 million around the world, but initially Krasinski was hesitant to pen a sequel alongside real-life wife Emily Blunt.

In an interview with film website Deadline, he admitted: “I’m surprised people aren’t like, ‘Nah, we know what this is, and we just want to leave it as it is’.”

Krasinski continued:

“To be perfectly honest, it was never really on my mind while we were making it. I never really thought of it as an expanded world; I always thought of it as a one-off.

“The thing that I loved in the movie, where my mind kept wandering as we were making it, was the question of who was on the other end of those fires, when the father lights the fire and in the distance those other fires light up.

“How did those people survive? How did that old man survive?

“In the extreme these characters are going through, there’s no room to think about that. They’re there, there’s an old man who’s about to scream, they just have to deal with that. I think it would be interesting to see what’s going on elsewhere at this same time.”

“In some ways, the idea of seeing who these people were before this all happened would be interesting, but I’m not quite sure because I think actually it’s now what’s the next chapter and what happens next,” Blunt said last year, speaking to EW about the sequel.

What will A Quiet Place 2 be about?

In terms of what to expect from the sequel John said that the new movie would focus on brand new characters, rather than the Abbott family around whom the first film revolved.

“We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it,” Krasinski said.

“The reason I decided to go back, in the end, was this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore. There are so many different things to see now. Everyone else in the world is experiencing this, so I’m curious to see what that looks like from another perspective.”
