Let’s face it, 2020 is a terrible year for cinema, and it’s been confirmed that Jurassic World: Dominion is the latest blockbuster to be delayed.

It joins No Time To Die, Dune and The Batman as the latest film to be pushed back, and you now have to wait until June 2022 to get your next dinosaur fix.

Star of the series, Laura Dern, tweeted the new release date last night.

The new film is being directed this time by Colin Trevorrow. No plot details have been released just yet, but Dominion suggests a dino takeover.

The director tweeted an explanation for the delay.

The cast includes original favourites Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, joining up with recent additions Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. They’re joined by Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Dichen Lachman, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise and Scott Haze.

Filming on the latest installment paused in March due to COVID, but continued in early July at Pinewood Studios. It’s one of the first major productions to return to work, but the delay has meant it has to be pushed back to 2022.

Elsewhere, Jeff Goldblum re-enacted the famous ‘Chaos Theory’ scene with Sam Neill after encouraging fans to register to vote. He’s promising more moments if people continue to register too.

After the Cineworld and Odeon news, will there still be cinemas left to watch it in?
