I love me a big old bowl of cereal, but I’m more of an evening/late-night snacker than an early morning muncher.
I’m not proud to admit it but often as a dessert I’ll have a big bowl of Krave before bed. Those little hazelnut pillows are the perfect snack before I snooze – it’s just a shame they cost about four quid and you only get three bowls out of a box.
But now there’s a new sheriff in town and I may just have to switch my cereal eating game up.
Kellogg’s has announced they will be selling white chocolate Coco Pops right here in the UK for the first time in the brand’s history – and although I bet they’re ridiculously sickly I want a box immediately.
The boxes contain 480g – that’s the same weight and price as a regular-sized box of ordinary chocolate Coco Pops – but have 30 per cent less sugar than other chocolate rice cereals and no artificial colours or flavourings. So basically a bowl equates to at least one of your five a day then.
The cereal is made using real white chocolate (6.5 per cent) so the Coco Pops taste really chocolatey, and it will be available in Tesco and Asda from with a recommended retail price of £2.99.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, they’re just Rice Crispies.
Wrong – Rice Crispies don’t contain white chocolate – so they really are a first.
These are just Rice Crispies advertised as White Chocolate

The cereal manufacturer is also introducing a new character – Nula the Narwhal – into its much-loved jungle adverts, who will ‘magically’ turn traditional Coco Pops into white chocolate.
You know they really alienate us adults who enjoy cereal by including these characters. If anything, kids should stay well away from chocolate cereals and have fruit or something.
Sara Ashley, a Kellogg’s food technician at the Manchester cereal factory said: “We had the idea to make a white chocolate flavoured Coco Pops when working in our food development kitchen on a new reduced sugar recipe for the original Coco Pops cereal.
“We knew fans were asking for it so we developed a prototype, which uses three basic ingredients, and tried it out with Kellogg’s staff who loved it.”
Kate Bailey, brand manager for Kellogg’s Coco Pops added: “In response to our fans, and the growing desire for white chocolate varieties of popular foods, we wanted to see if it was possible to create a white chocolate Coco Pops that tastes as good as the original.
“Our food developers have succeeded and for the first time in the cereal’s 59 year history a white chocolate version will hit the shops.”
As you’d expect, social media is buzzing right now:
I’m just about to have my lunch and I was going to have something healthy.
Now I’m going to be spending the next hour searching south London high and low for a box of these bad boys. I’m literally salivating already.
Yes – Kellogg’s white chocolate Coco Pops are available in the UK right now!
Tesco and Asda are selling white chocolate Coco Pops from June 17th with a recommended retail price of £2.99.
