Ironically, the Kardashians and Jenners attempt at protecting their brand (by paying not attention to Caitlyn’s presence in the jungle) is ruining their reputation in the UK.
What can I say? We Brits like our celebrities to be down to earth and humble.
It seems clear to me that Kris Jenner and Co. have largely convinced themselves it’s best to avoid commenting on Caitlyn Jenner’s presence on the ITV show, a decision that’s turning out to be a huge mistake.
Perhaps what they don’t know is that, unlike the cancelled US version of the show, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! UK is actually one of the British nation’s favourite programmes.
Which means that Caitlyn Jenner is now celebrated over here just as much as the rest of them. I mean, she’s made a lot of new British fans over the last few days – my mum included!
Many British fans of the family have noticed their lack of support for Caitlyn in the jungle and have started turning on them for being disrespectful.
However, after Kim K was the first to acknowledge her stepdad’s participation in the show – through a tweet which featured a clip of Caitlyn in the jungle – it seems that her younger sisters are following her lead. What’s new?
Caitlyn’ daughters Kendall and Kylie have been spotted showing support for their dad by liking her photos Instagram which reference her participation in the show.
@caitlynjenner is being run by Sophia Hutchins, a close friend of Caitlyn’s who currently resides with the decathlete.
Up until this week, Sophia has been the only person close to Caitlyn to show her support whilst she’s in Oz – support that seems to be working in her favour.
Not only has Sophia’s running of Caitlyn’s social accounts helped her gain a slew of new followers, but it’s also helped the 23-year-old find fame in the UK. This week, Sophia was interviewed by Loose Women (on Loose Women), which, as we all know, is a huge show with a dedicated fanbase.
On Loose Women, Hutchins spoke about her relationship with Caitlyn saying: “I would say that we are partners in every way, that’s what I’ve said for a long time. We do business together, I still manage her career while running my own company. We have dogs together, we live together. Really, I think it comes down to that we are family at the end of the day. I think that’s been a really special connection I don’t think you find with a lot of people. We have such a big age difference, so there’s not really a romantic sense to that relationship which I’ve said before as well. I would say it comes down to a really good partnership in business and when it comes to personal it really is family”.
It seems that it was even Sophia who sent Caitlyn her jungle care package, which contained a picture of their two dogs waiting for her to return home.
Perhaps next year it’ll be Sophia entering the jungle and Caitlyn supporting! I’ll be rooting for her!
Kylie and Kendall, take note.
