American actor and comedian Kevin Hart has spoken out for the first time about the near-fatal car crash that nearly ended his life last month. He posted an emotional video to his Instagram page giving his followers an intimate look at his recovery process and thanking his friends, family and fans for their endless support.
In the 2-minute video, 40-year-old Hart can be seen undergoing intense back therapy and spending time with close family and friends away from the public eye. Hart narrates over the footage:
“Basically, what you realise is you’re not in control – no matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. And at the end of the day, it can all be over, man.
“I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down. When you’re moving too fast and you’re doing too much, sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see. But after my accident, I see things differently. I see life from a whole new perspective and my appreciation for life is through the roof.
“I’m thankful for my family, my friends; I’m thankful for the people that simply ride with me and have been with me, ’cause you stood by me – my fans. Thank you for all your love and support.
“Don’t take tomorrow for granted, ’cause tomorrow’s not promise. More importantly, I’m thankful for God; I’m thankful for life. I’m thankful for simply still being here. I’m looking forward to an amazing 2020.”
Naturally, the post has been showered in support from fans and celebrity bezzies, including Dwayne Johnson (pictured below with Kevin Hart), who commented: “Beautifully said. Love u brotha. Onward.”
This. Bromance. Though.
Best mate Dwayne Johnson has been a huge support to Hart over the last two months. Not only did Johnson cut his honeymoon short to be with Hart when he was first hospitalised, but he’s even stood in for him on talk shows in recent weeks.
Last month, Johnson jokingly talked about Hart’s recovery on The Kelly Clarkson show (covering Hart’s booking), telling Clarkson:
“Everything is good, I spoke with Kevin, I actually refer to him as my son.
“I connected with him today and you know what, these things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat.
“That’s real love…We spoke to the paediatrician and he said he’s doing very well.”
OMG, these two.
This is the first time that Kevin Hart has publicly spoken about the heavily publicised car crash that left him with “major back issues”. The accident took place shortly before 1am on 1st September 2019 in West Valley, California. Hart was riding as a passenger – alongside friends Rebecca Broxterman and Kevin Hart – in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it crashed and overturned on Mulholland Highway in Los Angeles. His friend Jared Black was driving the car. Both Black and Hart were seriously injured and rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Sending all those healing positives vibes, Kevin.
