God this is hilarious. I sort of feel bad for the kids but come on, you can’t write this stuff.

They wanted to watch Ryan Reynolds voice a little, cuddly yellow mouse but instead had to endure The Curse of La Llorona.

The news came courtesy of ScreenRant worker Ryan George, who was in the cinema to catch the new Pokémon flick.

His suspicions were first aroused when the cinema played a trailer for Annabelle Comes Home, a horror film featuring the doll from The Conjuring.

He tweeted, saying:

He followed that up, saying:

Andddd kids are crying. Now the Joker trailer is playing

Just as you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the new Chucky trailer played and then, of course, The Curse of La Llorona began…

It’s just too funny.

The Curse of La Llorona features a mother in the 1970s trying to save her children from a nefarious spirit that’s trying to steal them. It’s not even slightly like Detective Pikachu. I’ve seen it. None of that stuff happens in it.

Actually since we’re on that topic, almost nothing of any worth happens in Detective Pikachu at all, and that’s coming from a huge fan of Pokémon. I’d been waiting years for a film like that and it really underwhelmed me.

Weirdly, it also felt like the creators ran out of time to render and design a load of Pokémon, so only did about 24 and kept copy and pasting them all over the place.

It had its moments though and all of the actors – especially Reynolds – did a fantastic job.
