Kit Harington became a household name through his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones but claims he doesn’t want a similar role again.

Game of Thrones launched the careers of numerous stars during its eight-season run. Kit Harington who player the stoic Jon Snow has now expressed a lack of desire to return to a silent hero archetype. The actor spoke to The Telegraph about what kind of roles he would like to explore in the future.

The actor detailed why they wanted to leave the Jon Snow-type of character behind:

“I feel that emotionally men have a problem, a blockage and that blockage has come from the Second World War, passed down from grandfather to father to son.”

The actor went on to focus on contemporary masculinity, adding:

“We do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine.”

Some fans have responded to the actor’s statements negatively and have defended their enjoyment of the character type. However, many are enjoying the actor’s role in Criminal: UK on Netflix.

While some will want to see the actor return to old character types, it is clear that the actor is pursuing new territory.

Good luck to Kit in his new roles!
