A source close to Amy told The Sun: “It was Amy’s decision to walk from the villa as she felt she had gotten as much as she could from the experience.
“She fell in love, had her heart broken and couldn’t stand the thought of seeing Curtis crack on with other girls while under the same roof as her.
“She was given therapy and support from the producers at ITV and they felt she was emotionally sound enough to make her own decision. They would never dream of keeping someone in there if they weren’t happy about it.”
And now reports say that Amy is in hiding in Spain and being looked after by the show’s producers.
Sources confirmed an emotional Amy was still in Spain and has not spoken out since leaving the villa.
Amy has already spoken to the show’s psychologist after being dumped by ballroom dancer Curtis and is currently receiving full aftercare offered to former Islanders.
But it is believed her time in the villa was too stressful and she decided her Love Island journey was over.
The 26-year-old’s parents have reportedly claimed that it has been “too painful to watch” her suffering in the run up to her exit.
Speaking to The Sun , a source close to Amy’s dad Ian said that he felt “powerless” after her savage dumping.
“Ian’s a normal father who finds it concerning to watch his daughter go through the rigours of Love Island,” they said.
“He can’t bear to read all the upsetting opinions on the internet about her. He has taken down his Facebook account and now refuses to watch the show.
“Any father would find this sort of thing very tough to watch while powerless to intervene.”
The shock move came after her co-star Maura was accused of breaking the girl code when she made her move on ‘husband material’ Curtis without talking Amy on Sunday.
In tonight’s episode, the two confront each other and come to blows.
After speaking to Curtis about her feelings, Maura decides to let the other girls know about their conversation.
Anna Vakili and Molly-Mae Hague are taken aback, with Anna saying: “Do you not think you should have told Amy?”
Maura replies: “Right now, I don’t want to hurt Amy.”
We will see Amy’s exit in tonight’s episode.
