A simple Twitter question about which Chris from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the best has spiralled into absurdity as Disney co-stars defend the actor.

A post asking which famous Chris was the best has sparked a huge reaction, as it labels Chris Pratt, who is known for his work in Guardians of the Galaxy, as the worst.

While some had differing opinions, a lot of fans took the time to point out that Pratt is a big supporter of the Hillsong Church which is known for being anti-LGBTQ+. Others noted that he is a follower and supporter of the Trump administration as well as right-wing commentators.

The political affiliation was largely sidelined as Twitter dug deeper and was reminded of Ellen Page’s comments about Pratt’s practices.

Many would have anticipated the outrage to die down pretty quickly, as it has done in the past, but it was reignited by actors and his wife defending him. Pratt’s partner, Katherine Schwarzenegger responded to the post of E! Stating:

“Is this really what we need? There’s so much going on in the world and people are struggling in so many ways, being mean is so yesterday. There’s enough room to love all these guys. Love is what we all need not meanness and bullying. Let’s try that.”

Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Josh Gad also jumped to the defence of the actor.

However, some have disagreed with the statements of the actors. Firstly, because they do not address the support of conversion therapy and secondly because they were silent when Brie Larson was the victim of misogynistic and hateful comments when she joined the MCU.

The reaction from the MCU cast certainly sheds light on what they deem important. Many will feel that both sides are escalating the drama, but it does seem odd that celebrities are reacting so defensively to a Twitter poll.

It will be interesting to see how this is resolved!
