Marvel Insiders Say Wolverine Will Join The Avengers In The MCU

A Marvel source has claimed that Wolverine is a certain character to join the Avengers in the near future.

Let’s be honest, Wolverine – at least in a cinematic sense – is the only reason people care about the X-Men.

They’re all too whiney, Professor X loses his powers in some capacity in every single outing, Magneto goes from being ambivalent to good to bad and then back to ambivalent in every single outing, the rest of the mutant merge into one bland character in every single outing and every single outing is w*nk.

The only good moments in those films are either Wolverine ones, or that one bit at the beginning of X2 when Nightcrawler infiltrates the White House.

With that in mind, it’s not at all surprising that Disney are looking to introduce Wolverine into the MCU as soon as possible, but as we all know, very little in Marvel Studios is rushed, so they’re biding their time on that one.

Kevin Feige already announced that alongside Phase 4 films like Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, we can expect new additions to the MCU like The Eternals, a very exciting Blade reboot, The Fantastic Four and Mutants, but no details were released as to the extent of certain introductions.

Well, We Got This Covered claim that Wolverine will be the first to join the Avengers after the mutants’ first introduction of the universe and since Feige announced mutants would be happening last month at the San Diego Comic Con for Phase 4, that’s maybe not too far away at all.

With all of that in mind, it also recently “broke” that a Spider-Man, Deadpool and Wolverine team-up film could be in the works.

That could work, as within the comics Spider-Man and Deadpool have a pretty lighthearted love-hate relationship, with the latter pretty much idolising and loving the former, but Deadpool and Wolverine have more of a hate-hate relationship, with a hint of love.

Spider-Man will show affection to Deadpool, but Wolverine really struggles to do so, despite sort-of being loved and ruthlessly mocked by Deadpool himself.

As for Spider-Man and Wolverine, their relationship is more of a professional one, though there’s still fun to be had in that regard.

This could well all be a ploy to get hype up for the next Avengers film with, according to studio president Kevin Feige, is happening but is a bloody while away. During the San Diego Comic Con, he said of it:

Yes. It will be a very different team than we’ve seen before. That’s what Endgame was all about. It will be a very different incarnation of the team with some people you’ve already met and some you haven’t met yet.

Well it’s what I love about the Marvel comic method of storytelling. That’s not anything we invented, I love that things build up, they build to a crescendo, they all get together, they separate, they change.

Yeah it’ll probably be a Phase 5 film, annoyingly.

Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds are already perfect casting; let’s hope Marvel get Wolverine right (i.e. not getting Tom Hardy in). They’ve pretty much got a 100% hit rate so far, so I have faith. Taron Egerton would be good if he can do the accent?

Well I’m pumped.
