The Mad Titan had been teased since 2012 with the first Avengers film and after all of that time, he got snapped away by Iron Man in an act of heroism hitherto undreamt of…
But obviously that means someone else has to come and contend with the lasting heroes, like Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and Joshua-Rogers-Man. You know the gang.
So who’s it going to be?
Well, in a Reddit post, user ‘TheMarvelScoopMaster’ has revealed a few details regarding Captain Marvel 2, which will feed into the next ensemble film, presumably.
The “leak” gives the very vague time setting of sometime between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, and reads:
“The film will involve the Kree once again and the Skrulls, and focus on their conflict. Carol [Captain Marvel] learns of a ‘super weapon’ and goes on a search for it, only to realise it’s Korvac.
She sympathises with him; her and Korvac bond over being guinea pigs for the Kree basically. So when he betrays her and turns heel she’s left devastated.”
If you’re wondering who Korvac is, he’s basically a godlike entity man thing who hops through dimensions and has plans to turn Earth into one big ol’ utopia.
Find a different planet, Korvac! Why can’t all of these idiot bad guys just find a different planet for once?! It’s exhausting.
The leak says that Korvac won’t be too overpowered in Captain Marvel 2, but will grow in power after his first appearance.
A more Earth-based threat to come though, according to the leak, is Norman Osborne, who you’ll also know as the Green Goblin. He’s classically a Spider-Man villain, and the Reddit leak explained:
“The ground level threat will be Norman Osborn. Norman’s been done before obviously, so Marvel is working very hard to make Norman a threat, and while it’s likely we’ll see his Goblin alter-ego, it’s important to note that we’ll be seeing Norman using political and economical power to exude control over people.
His arc will pull heavily from Dark Reign; and potentially his run with the Thunderbolts.”
Very exciting stuff.
Only time will tell if there’s any truth to these leaks.
