It’s undoubtedly the smart move, but it’s a shame because boy do we enjoy a summer series of Love Island. My whole day basically revolves around it.
Netflix have tried their best to recreate their version of the show, but Too Hot To Handle just didn’t do it for me.
However, Maya Jama’s new reality TV series – set in Ibiza, no less – may fill that Love Island void in your life.
Coming to BBC Three at the end of June, Ibiza Dreams will be voiced and narrated by Jama and will follow a group of plucky Brits as they try to live the dream live on the White Isle, living, working and clubbing in the idyllic location.
They’ll be doing everything from promoting bars and super-clubs to repairing phones on the island.
BBC describes the show as: Follow an ambitious group of young Brits as they embark on a transformational summer: living, working and playing on Ibiza.
Sounds a lot like Ibiza Weekender to me, only with marginally better career opportunities.
Will they be able to make it work? Only time will tell.
In terms of the cast, 18 year-old Max will be introduced in episode 1 as he attempts to become Ibiza’s number one iPhone repairman. There can’t be many to be fair.
Another cast member, Sanchez, hopes to crack it as an international DJ and VIP host, while the other boys, Liam, Callum and George, will be creating promotional videos for bars and restaurants – including Wayne Lineker’s Ocean Beach.
One of the girls, Harriet, is yet to find a job and can’t resist partying.
I know a few Harriets.
Anyway, Maya Jama’s Ibiza Dreams will hit BBC Three at the end of June.
