Megan McKenna has broken her silence on the passing of Mike Thalassitis, saying she is in ‘complete shock.’

The pair had dated for seven months before splitting up in August 2018, but until now the former TOWIE star had remained silent following Thalassitis’ death.

However, in an Instagram post uploaded earlier today, Megan said:

“Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this. I can’t believe I’m even writing this post. ‘My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family.”

She added: ‘Rest in peace Mike.’

The post comes after a source said Megan was “devastated” over the news, telling The Sun:

“Megan is absolutely devastated.

“She isn’t ready to comment online yet and will be dealing with her grief in private.

“This is the toughest time of her life and all she wants is the support of close friends and family.”

During a recent episode of Celebs Go Dating, Megan opened up on her split from Mike, explaining: “I think my last relationship, I was kind of… I think I definitely fell in love.”

Indeed before their split, she told OK! magazine: “I reckon we’ll live together soon. He stays over a lot, so it would definitely work. I do want to marry him – we’d have such an amazing wedding!

“I want three children and I want them all to look like Mike – he’s got nice tanned skin and green eyes.

Earlier today, fellow Love Island contestants spoke about the sad news regarding Mike. 2017 contestant Jack Fowler posted a heartbreaking tweet about the importance of talking about mental health, whereas Montana Brown discussed her last communications with Mike.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic loss.
