Mars Wrigley (the choccy wizards behind the likes of Maltesers, M&M’s, Snickers, Orbit, Extra and Skittles) has today announced that, following the success of Maltesers Buttons in 2018, it will be introducing the UK’s first ever flavoured Maltesers product – Mint Maltesers Buttons.
According to Mars Wrigley, the new treat will provide a “delicious combination of the Maltesers trademark crunch alongside a fresh minty flavour.”
I’ve just texted two of my boys, who I know for a fact are more than partial to a Malteser.
“In the diary.”
The other said:
“Call an exorcist.”
I actually think my boys represent a cross-section of society on this one. Mint flavouring often falls into the Marmite category; some love it, others f**king hate it. I fall into the latter category, FYI, as my dad.
I just ran the news by him, actually. He’s a self-confessed Maltesers mega-fan (seriously, they’re all he ever wants for Christmas, and as a man on a journalist’s salary, I’m happy to oblige) and as I’m a serious journalist, I got a quote from him.
“There’s not much wrong with Maltesers is there? Why would you improve on perfection?”
I mean he’s not wrong, is he?
Laura Boothroyd, Maltesers Senior Brand Manager said:
“We’re incredibly excited to be launching Mint MaltesersButtons into the UK this year. Mint is increasingly popular and coupled with the UK’s existing love of Maltesers Buttons we’re sure this new product will be a hit with Maltesers fans across the country!”
The new minty-fresh product will hit the shelves across the UK on 9th March 2020 – just in time for Easter on 12th April 2020 – and will be released in a range of formats:
It’s safe to say the mint-chocolate lovers of social media are loving it.

Maltesers are a staple of British snacking and I’m anticipating a 52: 48 split when these mint-flavoured Maltesers Buttons finally hit the shelves next month.
This could get messier than Brexit. Stay safe out there.
