It was funny, it was fresh, it was insightful, it somehow made me miss school and it shone a new light on teen life that Skins thought it did – but didn’t – and The Inbetweeners got closer too, but probably overdid.
The first season took us on a huge ride with Asa Butterfield’s Otis, as we followed the dangerously awkward teen somehow find himself the school’s relationship and sex therapist, meanwhile falling for Emma Mackey’s Maeve and dealing with his overbearing mother.
Love it though we did and wish that it never stopped, season one did draw to a close on quite a cliffhanger, with Otis letting go of his sexual hangups and embracing a relationship with Ola, in front of newly single Maeve.
Three months ago we were shared the wonderful news that season two had finished filming…
And now here’s the trailer for Season 2…
The new season will see Otis have to juggle his new relationship and what seems to be a pretty strained friendship with Maeve, all the while coming at odds with the new kids in town and, presumably, helping out his distraught friend Eric after Adam was sent off to military school.
Speaking about the renewal, the show’s creator Laurie Nunn said:
“The reception to series one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible. I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.“
Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland, added:
“Laurie Nunn has captured the awkward teenage experience with a lot of heart and humour in Sex Education.
“Along with the Eleven team and executive producer and director Ben Taylor, she’s created a universally relatable series that has resonated with our members around the world.”
