Netflix has revealed a first look at The Haunting of Bly Manor, the long-awaited second season of The Haunting Of Hill House.
Netflix dropped the first poster for the follow-up season, which announced that it will debut this Autumn while encouraging fans to “look beneath the surface”.
Soon after that, Vanity Fair published a deeper dive into the season, which included an interview with director Mike Flanagan and 10 first-look photos from “Bly Manor.”
Based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name, The Haunting of Hill House was a huge success, coming out on Netflix in October last year.
We know the sequel is set to adapt Henry James’ psychological gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw, but as it turns out, that’s not the only James-penned story “Bly Manor” will be bringing to the screen.
“The thing I have access to, that no other adaptation of The Turn of to the Screw has, is the rest of Henry James’ ghost stories. I get to use all of them,” Flanagan told Games Radar.
With that in mind, despite what may or may not have happened to her in the first season – no spoilers here – Victoria Pedretti is very much back, having commented on what we can expect in the second season.
Talking to Nylon, the 24-year-old actor said that it will be more intense, explaining:
“I’m really excited about it. In some ways, it is [more intense] than season one. It’s its own thing. Even though it’s the second season of a show that I’ve been in before, almost everything is different.“
Pedretti isn’t the first person to echo this sentiment either, as Flanagan said that this season will be much scarier than the first.
He told Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s scarier. It’s a lot more frightening, just on a visceral level.“
With season one dropping in October 2018 – around Halloween – you’d think season two will also be released around a similar time.
We’ll keep you updated.
