It was World Vegan Day on Sunday 1st November, and it proved to be a remarkable day for one new business.

Rudy’s Vegan Butcher’s is the UK’s first vegan butchers shop, and they opened their doors to huge queues yesterday.

The new premises opened in North London and was a roaring success, with owners reporting 100 orders online in their first 10 minutes too.

They also run Rudy’s Vegan Diner in Camden, so you’re in safe hands here.

So what exactly does a vegan butcher do?

Rudy’s stocks a range of meat products,  but with a vegan twist. How about trying a plant-based smoked ham, salami de Provence, pepperoni, or pastrami?

They’re also stocking cruelty-free plan-based ribs, chicken liver pate, lobster salad, bacon, burgers, , and Christmas turkey among others.

They posted about their success online.

Under a picture of an enormous queue they wrote: “This was the line at 10:54am before we even opened and it didn’t slow down for hours. 100 online orders in the first ten minutes! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, messaged with love, ordered online and shouted out our news.”

They continued: “It was an unbelievable turnout. We are so blessed to have your support and feel overwhelmed by all the love. THANK YOU, thank you a million times and more”

Their opening wasn’t without controversy, as the likes of Piers Morgan waded in to discuss it.

Others were supportive though.

Would you try it?
