Are we just running out of new ideas? It’s been announced that Night At The Museum is the latest film to be getting a reboot on Disney+.

Unlike the other Disney adaptations of Mulan, Beauty & The Beast and Aladdin, this reboot is taking the live-action film and making it animated.

News of the remake was published on The DisInsider, reporting that the films will be called Night At The Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again.

The rebooted movie is rumoured to focus on Nick Daley – the son of Larry Daley who was played by Ben Stiller in the first film.

Nick doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps as the night-watchman of a museum that comes to life.

Making a return will be the Egyptian villain Kahmunrah, Jedediah (played by Owen Wilson in the original), Octavius (played by Steve Coogan) and  Joan of Arc joins the group and helps build Nick’s confidence.

None of the original actors are slated to reappear, so expect a whole host of new names.

Rumours about the reboot started in 2019 after Disney chief Bob Iger discussed a ‘reimagination’ of several big names on Disney’s Q3 Earnings Call. Three franchises in particular were mentioned; Night at the MuseumHome Alone and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Fans on social media don’t know what to make of the news.

Another tweeted: “it’s not a night at the museum film without the red hot sexual tension between Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan”

This person had a genius idea:

At least one person is excited:

Will you be watching or would you rather watch a new idea?
