Another day, another Gallagher brother trying to pick a fight. It feels like Noel and Liam would argue with a brick wall sometimes, and now Noel has Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift in his sights.
It takes a brave person to take on the Swifties fandom, but Noel isn’t holding back.
He appeared on the Funny How? podcast and said in his inimitable style: “The biggest-selling acts are s***, whereas when I was growing up, the biggest-selling acts were the best acts. The biggest band in the world was usually the best band in the world. Now the biggest things in the world if f***ing Taylor Swift? What? F*** off.”
He then complained about the lack of ‘proper rockstars’ nowadays: “There’ll never be another David Bowie, there’ll never be another Marc Bolan, there’ll never be another Freddie Mercury, proper rock stars.”
Noel blames this shortage on the likes of multi-million record selling Ed Sheeran: “There’ll never be people like that because musicians will never make that kind of money and the ones that do like Ed Sheeran, f****ing whatever.”
He continued: “There’ll be no more private jets or David Bowie rocking into King’s Cross Station dressed as a Nazi, they’ll be none of that anymore because people will be cowed by social media. Music now is style over substance. I find that these young people in the music game – they f***ing look great, they’ve all got tattoos and the image and all that f***ing b******s. But really they’re just s***, they’re not saying anything.”
His latest quarrel comes just weeks after he caused upset with anti-mask tweets, where even Jedward got involved criticising him.
On The Matt Morgan Podcast, Noel said: “I don’t wear a mask, no. The whole f***ing thing is b*******. You’re supposed to wear them in Selfridges but you can f***ing go down to the pub and be surrounded by every f***ing c***. ‘Oh well, actually, we don’t have the virus in the pubs, but we have it in Selfridges.’ ‘Oh, alright.’
