The outpouring of tributes to Mike Thalassitis has been nothing short of incredible, with thousands of people expressing their grief on social media.

Following the news of his passing, former Love Island contestant Olivia Attwood shared an emotional tribute to Thalassitis, who she shared a brief romance with on the show.

However, she’s revealed on Instagram that she’s been the target of trolls over her tribute, with one person even calling her a “b****”

Alongside a picture of the pair in the villa she wrote: “Literally don’t know what to say. Another one gone too young. Thinking of Mike’s family and friends at the horrendous time. You will be missed terribly.”

She received a barrage of hate for the post, though, with one reading: “This is disgusting, he was an amazing person and you fell for him but this is all you could say about it. You b***.”

Attwood hit back at the cruel messages, saying:

“I wasn’t going to acknowledge this, but I’ve had a few messages like this, so here we are.

“Who is anyone to say what I need to post on my social media? I decide what’s appropriate, not you!

“This time is about Mike’s family and the people he was genuinely close to and that’s it. Worlds gone mad. Maybe this is why Instagram is full of self-indulgent b****** and people are confused when you don’t comply to these weird standards.”

This comes after former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson posted a heartbreaking tribute on social media remembering his friendship with Thalassitis.

Elsewhere, other people have called for this year’s show to be cancelled in light of the tragic news.
