Weddings are supposed to be the happiest day of your life, but every now and then they can go a little south.
They always just feel a little forced to me; two families who are virtual strangers having to put on a happy face and pretend they actually care about the couple in question. There’s so much small talk, at least one uncle gets too pissed and tries it on with a bridesmaid, and someone makes a tit of themselves on the dance-floor.
That’s essentially how weddings go.
However, this next one wedding takes the biscuit when it comes to drama, as some Karen interrupted her son’s wedding mid ceremony after disagreeing with the bride’s vows.
Sarah Ragsdale, from San Jose California, posted the unbelievable footage on TikTok that took place during her sister’s wedding and it has since gone viral.
“My sister’s wedding a few years ago. Her MIL has always hated her. She’s just one of those MIL’s that feels my sister is taking her son away,” Ragsdale posted.
The bride, Anna Larrabee, 29, can be seen in the video saying the vows she’d written herself for her husband John.
Her aggressive mother-in-law interrupts her and shouts at her that her son has “no flaws”.
“You’re not going to say my son has flaws,” the mother-in-law heckles.
The bride tells her she can leave. “You’re not going to ruin my wedding.”
“No, that dress you’re wearing we paid for,” the mother-in-law shouts, before continuing: “You are not going to say my son has flaws.”
“Everybody has flaws and that’s why I love him. You can leave, Judy. You can get out of my wedding now,” the bride responds.
The bitter mother-of-the-groom gets up out of her seat and refuses to leave, as she repeats that she has a right to be there because she paid for the bride’s wedding dress.
The groom, who is stuck in the middle of the dispute, turns away from his mother staring at the ground.
He can then be heard telling his mother, “You have the flaws right now, you don’t know how to act like an adult.”
Viewers of the video posted to TikTok shared their disbelief at the mother’s actions.
One person commented: ‘Good for the bride’s friend!! We love to see it! She got that MIL in her seat REAL QUICK,’ with Sarah revealing that the woman was actually one of Anna’s co-workers.
Another said: ‘That’s why I can’t allow people to buy things for me bc that’s everybody’s first line of defense.’
I mean, wow, what an eventful day.
I take what I said earlier back – weddings are brilliant.
Seriously, though, who acts like that – least of all the mother of the groom?
Anyway, at least the only way is up. Cheers to the happy couple!
