Ozark season 3 is finally back after two years away, leaving us scared and uneasy.

It’s always jarring when you see an actor famed predominantly for comedy roles moving into the world of heavy drama. One of those things where no amount of prep will get you used to the idea before you see the show or film.

That’s exactly what Jason Bateman did with Netflix’s Ozark and now we can see him return in Ozark season 3, which is going to be an absolute joy, albeit a dark joy that isn’t very joyous at all.

Here’s the  trailer:

Ozark follows Bateman’s Marty who has more or less been forced into laundering a Mexican drug cartel’s money for five years, while he tries to do that with more and more outlandish ways and the FBI are hot on his trail.

His wife, Wendy (played by Laura Linney) goes from someone who wanted no part in her husband’s exploits, to someone who absolutely becomes a driving force in the new business, creating a dialogue with the cartel and coining new ideas.

To launder their money, the couple have tried numerous businesses, ranging from diners, to strip clubs, to churches, and season two ended with Wendy stopping Marty from having the family flee to Australia, with them planning to start their next laundering venture; a casino.

The show’s not disimilar to Breaking Bad in tone, and people will be very happy to hear that it’s coming back.

Bateman himself was pretty excited, writing on Twitter:

I’m happy for me, but concerned for Marty – it’s official OZARK 3 is on its way.

The next season will see lots change, with producer Chris Mundy saying that Wendy’s brother will join the fray:

[Her brother,] who we’ve hinted at the first couple years as having some sort of mental illness in the past.

[He’s] going to be a very destabilising factor.

What are you waiting for – go check it out.
