The buzz of getting up early, the hustle and bustle of check-in, the cheap cigs – it’s easy to lose yourself and forget you’re there for an actual reason.
However, the only way I can really relate to this article is that I once bought a magazine from a WH Smith’s in Manchester Airport and left it in departures.
I was livid with myself. Kind of ruined the holiday to be honest.
With that in mind, I’ll spare a thought for one clumsy mum who reportedly left her baby at the airport.
Kuala Lumpur-bound Saudia flight SV832 set off from Jeddah, but the pilot requested to turn back after a passenger told crew she had forgotten her baby in the boarding area of the terminal.
Audio has been released apparently showing the moment the Saudi flight requested permission to return to King Abdul Aziz International Airport and it’s gone viral.
“May God be with us. Can we come back or what?” the pilot says over the radio.
“This flight is requesting to come back…a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing,” an operative can be heard saying.
The pilot is asked to repeat the surprising request, to which he replies: “We told you, a passenger left her baby in the terminal and refuses to continue the flight.”
“Ok, head back to the gate,” says the operative. “This is totally a new one for us!”
You and me both, Mr. Operative!
I don’t know who recorded that but if it was an employee should they get in trouble for leaking it?
Who cares. It’s funny.
It’s unclear whether the plane had already taken off or was taxiing towards the runway when the woman realised her mistake but I assume her and the baby were reunited before long.
Makes you wonder though doesn’t it? How do you forget a baby? I thought the primal instinct of a mother to look after and protect their offspring was made of sterner stuff.
Although to be fair to her she was probably over-excited about the holiday. Either that or she was genuinely making an attempt to dump the baby and flee to another country.
I guess we’ll never know.
