A primary school teacher has been sacked after being unveiled as a foul-mouthed YouTube rapper MC Devvo.

I mean, we’ve all got pasts and this seems a bit harsh – I once accidentally put a football through Jesus’ face on a stained-glass window of a church, it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t work again.

Christian Webb, whose alter-ego was YouTube sensation MC Devvo, was reportedly fired from King Edwards Primary in Doncaster last December, having been at the school for four years.

His videos initially went viral in the early 2000s and showed him rapping in an extremely thick Doncaster accent about beating girlfriends, taking drugs and having sex with young girls.

Some of his lyrics included ‘have a can of Kestrel and I’ll kick me’ girlfriend’s head in’ and ‘f*ck ’em while they’re young’.

Honestly, everyone in my school shared his videos around – via infrared – which makes me feel ridiculously old.

I even think I’m guilty of putting on his voice in classes.

However, his foul-mouther alter ego has only just been discovered by bosses at King Edwards Primary in Doncaster, having worked there for four years, with details only just emerging of his sacking.

One parent said: “Everyone said he was brilliant but you wouldn’t want Ali G as your kid’s teacher.”

Another said: “Kids don’t realise it’s meant to be a joke.”

Webb, who wrote the songs with comic David Firth – of Salad Fingers fame – told The Sun: “It’s not something I want to discuss.”

One parent told the Sun:Everyone said he was brilliant but you wouldn’t want Ali G as your kid’s teacher.”

Another said: “Kids don’t realise it’s meant to be a joke.”

In an interview with Vice last year, Webb explained how MC Devvo began:

‘Well we were in Doncaster and also spent a lot of time in Hull, which is just a mishmash of weird f*cking folk. So I started making videos for my mate David about those people, for a laugh.

We would be blazing away, smoking joints and be like, ‘come on I’ve got to put one of these videos on the internet.’ People watched it and wanted us to come film another one.

So I’d be like ‘Yeah alright’. I only had the intention to make David laugh, really.’

Obviously it’s not ideal but you can’t help but feel it’s a bit of an overreaction.

So the guy made a few comedy videos way back – it doesn’t mean he’s a bad teacher.

Then again, he’s not teaching my kid so it’s hard to say.

I’ll let you lot decide
