Taskmaster is back tonight for an incredible tenth season, and apparently Johnny Vegas unleashes a competitive streak.
Joining Johnny will be comedians Daisy May Cooper, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring who are all competing to please Taskmaster Greg Davies.
Alex Horne, creator of the show told the Radio Times: “A lot of people are looking forward to seeing Johnny on the show because he’s a loose cannon, he’s sort of simmering throughout. He does lose it and he does go further than anyone else”.
He laughed: “There’s a task involving a Christmas tree bagging machine, which Johnny sort of goes full on Vegas on. That’s something to look forward to.”
Greg Davies added: “All five of them were wonderful, such diverse reactions, such strange reactions”.
He says that’s often the best bit: “That’s the joy of the show for me is that when you know there’s a certain person coming on, you decide in your head how they’re going to respond to the various pressures put on them and they never respond the way you’re expecting. These five really deliver in that regard.”
The series has already been receiving five star reviews from critics so it’s sure to be entertaining.
It’s the first season to appear on Channel 4, after making the jump from comedy channel Dave.
The comedians have to complete ultimately pointless (but hilarious) challenges to win points.
It’s not just the contestants who are embarrassed though.
Alex Horne told Chris Evans on Virgin Radio about a promotional nightmare: “I was walking through the town where we live and on the bus stop near the dry cleaners, it’s now just a massive picture of me with no clothes on…It didn’t make me feel confident! It’s awkward for me and my kids, but it is brilliant. You know, who wouldn’t want that once in their life.”
Series 10 of Taskmaster begins on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm.
